Giganto-Blanket FAQ Page

I’ve been fielding a lot of questions about my giganto-blanket lately, so I thought I’d put together a FAQ page for y’all — here the link. If you have any additional questions, feel free to comment on the page and I’ll try to answer them for ya. I hope it’s helpful!

    Laura,

Love the blanket! I also adore your dining table. Is it a custom piece?
    Thanks for sharing!

I must make this blanket! I can knit, but I’m not sure about felting. What will I need to do to start!? (Other than buy the yarn.)

Hi Kim — the felting is pretty simple. All you need is a bathtub and some sheets, really. The pattern lays it out in detail!

    HI Laura:

I’ve purchased the pattern and am so, so new to all of this but am excited to try this project out. When checking out Sheep Shed Studio, I’m tempted to purchase dyed yarn as its color is so beautiful. This seems like a silly question, but will the felting process work properly on colored yarn as with white fiber? I assume so, but notice you have instructions for spot treating the finished blanket so just wanted to be sure before purchasing a dyed material.

    Thank you!

Hi Sarah — that’s actually a very good question! Often, dyed wool or fabric can behave differently than natural wool, so it’s worth testing out a small sample before felting the whole lot! Also, I’d recommend the steaming method rather than the bathtub method just because it will be less messy! I hope that helps.
