Gifts Gone Wrong – Sarah Wilson’s Story

Have you ever wondered if Sarah Wilson, a.k.a. The Sexy Knitter, has ever experienced a knitting disaster? Here’s her story in today’s edition of Gifts Gone Wrong:

I actually do have a story about a gift gone horribly wrong. This was maybe back in…2003? I decided to knit a sweater for my dad, who is a big fan of cabled sweaters. I picked out an intricately cabled design and decided to knit it up in a dark navy boucle (Lion Brand Homespun, to be specific). First mistake!! When I got to the sleeves (the pattern was in pieces), I asked my mom to measure a sleeve from one of my dad’s similarly constructed sweaters. Second mistake! She gave me the measurement from the shoulder to the wrist and I used it as the measurement for the underarm to the wrist! Needless to say, the sleeves came out about 6 inches too long and the pattern was completely obscured by the dark color and texture of the yarn. Ooops! Live and learn! Sadly I don’t have a photo for you, but I’m sure it would be pretty hilarious if I did.
