Nocturnal Knits is a knitting blog by Laura Birek. That’s me over there! Hi!
Knitting was a fairly new hobby for me in 2005 when I started this blog, but since then it’s become a central part of my daily life.
I am the author of the knitting book “Picture Perfect Knits,” which was released in November 2008 by Chronicle Books. It’s all about intarsia, and the book is chock full of instructions, full-patterns, and stand-alone charts so you can incorporate intarsia into anything you’re knitting. You can order the book from Amazon.com, look for it in bookstores or yarn shops near you, or click here for more info!
I’ve also written patterns for Knit Picks, Knitscene Magazine, Yarnbox, and published a ton right here on Nocturnal Knits. Click here to see all my available patterns in one place.
My most popular pattern, by far, is my Giganto-blanket — a super-hyper-ultra bulky knit throw made from wool roving and knit on PVC pipe. Interested in making one but don’t know where to start? Check out my Giganto-blanket FAQ page for all the info you might need.
In addition to knitting, I work as a freelance front-end web developer and writer in Los Angeles.
